Compress video
The video compressor creates a new MP4 download.
Use percentage for an approximate reduction, or enter MB for a strict maximum file size.
Compress video with no server upload
Your selected video is processed on your device, not sent to a compression server.
Compress by percentage or target MB
Choose roughly how small the MP4 should be. The compressor accepts smaller results instead of chasing an exact file size.

Choose a target for your email service
These are starting values, not mailbox checks or guaranteed delivery sizes. Use the limit shown by your account and recipient, and lower the target when the full message exceeds it.
| Email service | Published guidance | Starting target (adjustable) | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Gmail | 25 MB total attachments | 24 MB | All attachments count together. Above the limit, Gmail uses a Drive link; work and school accounts can have different rules. |
| Outlook: internet accounts | 20 MB total message | 18 MB | Microsoft includes the message and attachments. Lower the preset if encoding or other content makes the total too large. |
| Exchange / other mail | Check organization policy | 10 MB | Microsoft cites a 10 MB Exchange default in this guidance. A 10 MB whole-message cap needs a smaller video target. |
Multiple attachments share one budget
Add the sizes of all saved videos and other attachments. If they exceed the shared allowance, use smaller files, separate messages or an approved sharing link.
Why transport encoding adds size
Base64 represents three bytes with four characters, adding roughly one third before line and message overhead. Mail systems apply limits differently, so this does not translate into one universal safe attachment size.
RFC 4648 Base64How to compress video for email
Set the target, choose a source file, and check the result before sending. Keep the original for any later edits.
Check both sending and receiving limits
Choose a provider preset or enter a custom MB value below the stricter known allowance. Select the provider before choosing a file: switching providers clears the current selection.
Select the video you want to attach
Choose MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or M4V. The tracks inside must be readable by the browser or fallback engine; the tool checks the file before compression.
Compress and check the output size
Run the email video compressor with the tab open. Compare the original and output sizes, check any warning, and lower the target from the original file if more space is needed.
Download, preview, and attach
Save the MP4, check picture and sound, then attach it in your email app. If a small target makes the clip hard to watch, send an approved sharing link instead.
Leave room for the full email message
Count the body, signature and other files
When you compress video for email, check whether the cap covers attachments or the full message. With a message-size limit, text, signatures and other files reduce the video budget.
Divide the attachment budget
Two 12 MB files total 24 MB before message overhead. Give each video a smaller target, send separate messages if appropriate, or use a sharing link for the whole set.
Lower the target when encoding counts
If a server checks the encoded message, an 18 MB video can exceed a 20 MB cap. Use a smaller target when the email app rejects it; do not assume the preset leaves enough space for every mail system.
